FRANCESCO CANTAFIO Peacefully on September 9, 2008 at Health Sciences Centre, Francesco Cantafio passed away with family by his side at the age of 76. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marianna Cantafio, children Concetta (Paulo) Caradonna, Maria (Giuseppe) Cianflone, Rosetta (Gabriele) Guzzi, Vincenzina (Tony) Aiello, and Francesco (Anna) Cantafio, along with his 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Francesco was predeceased by his parents, Francesco and Concetta (Sherba) Cantafio and brother Antonio (Caterina). Francesco was born in Amato, Italy on September 14, 1931. At the age of 37, on December 22, 1969, Francesco and his wife Marianna and five children moved to Winnipeg. During his young life in Italy, Francesco had many jobs. When the family immigrated to Canada, he worked for Canadian Bronze for approximately 21 years. He retired early in 1992 at the age of 61. Francesco enjoyed spending time with his family by going for family picnics, playing bocce, gardening, listening to Italian music and all kinds of sports. Francesco lived to make his wife and family happy, they were his greatest joy and the loves of his life. Daddy we will always love you and cherish your memory forever in our hearts. We love you, rest in peace, until we meet again. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, September 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. also at Holy Rosary Church with Reverend Father Sam Argenziano as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley, St. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Felicia and Marianna Guzzi, Joseph and Franco Aiello and nephews Vincenzo Decaria, Justyn Blackburn and Robert Thwaites. The family would like to thank the staff on the 4th floor of Health Sciences Centre, Dr. Wong, Dr. Glezerson, Dr. Gingrich, Dr. Ahuwalia and the palliative care unit In lieu of flowers, donations may be made CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermont Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.   • i was just thinking about my wonderful father, not a day goes by that i dont remember his love, strength, the great memories that because of him i have so many memories of what family means and the great times we had.
